Common Names
Ficus triangularis Sweetheart, Ficus triangularis variegata or Trainagle Fig
How to Grow and Care
The Sweetheart appreciates a warm, humid environment, a fair amount of water and can be placed indoor with plenty of light . If you’re unsure about your lighting conditions, placing the tree directly next to the window is the safest bet. Otherwise, they lose their leaves at a drastic rate. It should get light for about 8 to 10 hours a day.
Water when top 25% soil is dry to touch. Soil should be kept moist.
There is a trick that could be used to see if the plant is overwatered or underwatered.
If the plant’s leaves start turning yellow it is an indication that the plant is not receiving enough water and if the green leaves start falling off the plant and the new leaves are black. It means that your plant is receiving more water than its requirement. The plant should be watered slowly and it should be stopped when water starts to flow from the bottom hole of the pot.
Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides and dust the leaves often so the plant can photosynthesize efficiently.
