How to Grow and Care

Light: Pilea peperomioids is a low maintenance species that thrives in a bright spot near a window, but it is best to keep the plant out of direct sunlight as too much direct sun can cause the leaves to burn. However, too little light can cause the leaves to fade and the plant's overall health to suffer, so take time to find a spot that's just right.

Watering: Before giving your plant a drink, it is best to check the moisture level in the soil first to ensure it isn’t moist right beneath the surface. Also, consider aerating the soil of your plant before the initial watering. We compact the soil to avoid shifting during transit, so aerating can help the soil breathe and allow moisture to be released.
Allow the top 2”-3” of the Pilea peperomioides' soil to dry between waterings. Typically, watering this plant once a week will suffice. Drooping leaves can be an indication that the plant is ready for water, but always test the soil to confirm your diagnosis.
Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides and dust the leaves often so the plant can photosynthesize efficiently. When dusting the leaves, also take the opportunity to inspect the undersides and keep an eye out for pests.

Soil: This plant prefers a sandy soil mixture to live in. Combine one part clean sand (or perlite) with two parts peat to provide the required soil content for continued health.

** Protect from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.
